RLD seeks President Mukherjee's intervention into agrarian ‘crisis’
MEERUT: Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) on Monday shot off a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee seeking his intervention into what the outfit claimed “agrarian crisis” in Uttar Pradesh.
The farmers’ outfit claimed that contrary to popular perception the condition of farmers in west UP was not good and they were also reeling under financial crisis.
The RLD also asked the President to ensure that compensation is paid to the families of those farmers who have committed suicide.

The RLD workers marched to district magistrate (DM) office chanting pro-farmer slogans.
“There is a misconception that farmers are better off in UP, and especially in western UP. That is not true. Firstly, loan-waiver has not happened on the ground. People are getting notices from banks. Needy farmers will not get the benefit of loan-waivers,” said Raj Kumar Sangwan, organising secretary of RLD.
“We are seeking intervention of the President in this matter as the BJP government is doing nothing,” he said.
